IS A ZOMATO GOLD MEMBERSHIP IN DELHI A GOOD DEAL?

For a Delhiite, like me, food is something that we can never compromise with. For good food, we all love to explore new places with our friends and Zomato is something that helps us to achieve that.

With a mission to ensure that nobody has a bad meal, Zomato was founded in 2008 by Indian entrepreneurs Deepinder Goyal and Pankaj Chaddah. It provides information and reviews on restaurants, inter alia includes, images of menus, top dishes that people order, average costing per visit for two people with or without alcohol.

These features allow you to search for restaurants as per your convenience, budget, and taste. Due to Zomato, the Bill does not come as an Element of Surprise. You already know, approximately how much you have to pay.

With Zomato, you can also search for upcoming events, book the table to avoid the queues and order food delivery.

What is Zomato Gold?

Zomato Gold is a premium subscription-based service provided by Zomato. Now, let us quickly analyze whether having a Zomato Gold Membership is a Good Deal or not. There are two things that Zomato gold offers. During your visit to the restaurant, you can apply either one of the following: First is 1+1 Dish, in which the second-highest priced dish ordered is free.

Let say, if you go to a restaurant with your friends and order 4 dishes then the price of the second-highest dish ordered by you will not be charged for you. In other words, you have to pay for the 3 dishes, not for the 4.

Second is 2+2 Drinks, if you buy 2 drinks, you get 2 free. Basically, you get 4 drinks at a cost of 2. Let us take an example to understand how it is a value for money deal.

Let’s say, you have 24 Month-Membership somewhere around ₹2,400/- (Current price may vary), and in the worst case scenario, you go to a restaurant once in a month and able to save only ₹300 per visit. Still, by doing this, you can save ₹300 x 24 Months = ₹7,200.

Even in the worst case scenario, you get the Net Benefit of ₹4,800/-. You can easily save ₹300-₹700 per visit using Zomato gold and its a value for money deal. One has to note that for the sake of simplicity, I have ignored the time value of money.

So, Is it a Good Deal or Not?

It’s like a win-win situation for both, the consumer and the restaurant. For a consumer, it reduces the overall price of the bill and for a Restuarant, it increases its business as many gold members prefer to go to the Zomato Gold partnered restaurants.

If you live in a city like Delhi where Zomato gold partnered restaurants are available, then it is a great deal. You have to pay a membership fee to enjoy the gold. But don’t worry about that, even if you go to even a single restaurant in a month, it will easily cover your cost.

Like in my case, I generally go to at least 3-4 times in a month for dining out. Either with my friends or my family and with that, the benefit gets better and better.

One thing that you have to keep in mind is that you have to unlock the Zomato gold visit. You have to give a unique number to the waiter during the order itself. Screenshots of codes won’t be accepted because the waiter will scan it with his machine.
